The Winters Agency was established in 1945 in Richmond by E..Ray Winters, Sr. In 1959 Mr. Winters merged with Stewart A. Oliver (President of Tri-County Bank, now SunTrust) to form the current Winters-Oliver Agency. Ray Sr.'s two sons, James A. (Jimmy) and Ray, Jr. came onboard in 1971 and 1964 respectively. Steve Winters (Jimmy's son) joined the Agency in 1973.
Today, the Winters-Oliver offices still remain at the original site of the former Tri-County bank. However, both the industry and the surrounding community have evolved significantly since that time. The Winters-Oliver Insurance Agency continues to stay abreast of and responsive to not only changes in the insurance industry, but also adapt to a growing and expanding community as well. Winters-Oliver is committed to continuing education for agency principals and staff, insuring that its clients will receive competent insurance advice. Winters-Oliver is an active participant in the Mechanicsville-Hanover community.
